What is the main purpose of the PHSA Program Liaison Project?

The PHSA Program Liaison Project identifies an advocacy lead within each PHSA member program. The liaison assignment is vital to helping program staff and parents understand the important role that advocacy plays for Head Start/Early Head Start. The liaisons will then be positioned to quickly mobilize them within their program when needed for outreach opportunities to engage their community, as well as federal and state legislators. Working with PHSA staff on this project enables the liaison to better understand the benefits of membership, learn of advocacy opportunities that are crucial to the success of Head Start support, and to gain access to resources that will help them carry out those opportunities successfully. Regardless of how your program chooses to engage in these efforts, it is important that the liaison works with the PHSA Outreach Manager to track the activities that your program, staff, and parents have participated in.
